Understanding Available Job Types
Updated over 2 months ago

Overview

On UrbanMount, the “Available Jobs” section can display three kinds of service requests:

Reserved – Pre-allocated exclusively to you for a brief window.

Open – Accessible to all qualified Pros in the area.

Surge – Similar to “Open” but with bonus pay or incentives to encourage faster acceptance.

Each type has unique benefits and response expectations. Below, we’ll break down how they work and what you can do to maximize these opportunities.

Reserved Jobs

What Are They?

Occasionally, UrbanMount identifies a Pro who might be an excellent match—whether it’s based on a high Performance Score, specialized skill, or client preference. The platform “reserves” this request for you exclusively for a short timer (often 15–30 minutes).

Heads Up: If you let the timer expire, that job will be automatically declines by default.

Responding to a Reserved Request

1. Check the Time Limit: You’ll typically see a countdown.

2. Accept or Decline Promptly: This preserves a high acceptance rate and fosters better performance metrics.

3. Communicate if Uncertain: If you need more details (e.g., item size, location specifics), quickly message the client.

Open Jobs

What Are They?

Open jobs are visible to all Pros with matching categories and within the job’s zip code coverage. It’s a competitive environment—first come, first served, unless UrbanMount has additional matching considerations.

Pro Tip: If you see an Open request that perfectly fits your skill set, jump on it quickly to increase your chance of securing the job.

Managing Open Jobs

Scroll through the job list in (App → Jobs → Open).

• Filter by distance, category, or date using the (Filter/Sort) icon.

• If you see something interesting, tap (Accept Job) to lock it in.

Surge Jobs

What Are They?

A “Surge” job indicates the request has been unclaimed for a while or is particularly urgent. UrbanMount may add a bonus to the Pro’s payout—think of it like “peak pricing” for your services.

When You’ll See Surge

• The client posted last minute (e.g., same-day assembly).

• Multiple Pros declined it.

• The job is in a high-demand skill category with not enough Pros in the area.

Important: Surge pay is automatically calculated. You’ll see the approximate final payout before you accept.

Potential Considerations

• Because these are urgent, ensure your schedule is genuinely free.

• Always confirm the higher rate is visible on your confirmation screen.
