Set Up the Cart or Cart Drawer Placement

Offer installation for eligible cart items while accounting for Shopify theme differences.

Overview

The Cart placement lets customers consider Urbanmount installation after adding products to their Shopify cart. You can add the Urbanmount app block to a cart page and enable the app embed for supported cart drawer experiences.

The placement also includes a One-click add to cart setting. When enabled, it gives customers one streamlined action for the eligible items in their cart. When disabled, customers can choose from eligible cart items individually. Cart designs and drawers vary across Shopify themes, so configure and test the published theme your customers use.

Who this applies to

This article applies to Partners who use the Urbanmount Shopify app and have permission to customize their Shopify Online Store theme. You will need access to Placements in the Partner Dashboard and at least one product variant to use in a storefront test cart.

Steps

  1. In the Partner Dashboard, open Placements.

  2. Enable Cart and open its setup guidance.

  3. Choose the One-click add to cart setting that fits your customer experience:

    • Enable it for one action covering the eligible items in the cart.

    • Disable it when customers should choose eligible items individually.

  4. Save the placement settings.

  5. In Shopify Admin, go to Online Store > Themes.

  6. Find the theme you intend to publish and select Customize.

  7. Use the template selector to open the Cart template.

  8. In the cart section, select Add block.

  9. Under Apps, choose the Urbanmount cart block.

  10. Position the block near the order summary or checkout action.

  11. Open Theme settings > App embeds and enable the Urbanmount app embed if directed by the setup guidance.

  12. Select Save, then publish the intended theme.

  13. On the published storefront, build a test cart with an exact product variant you recognize in the Partner Dashboard. If possible, also test multiple eligible items, different quantities, and an item that does not offer installation.

  14. Open the full cart page and enter a valid five-digit customer ZIP when requested.

  15. If your theme uses a cart drawer, repeat the test in the drawer. A drawer and full cart page can behave differently.

  16. Change a quantity, remove an item, and add it again to confirm the placement reflects the current cart.

  17. If you also use the Product page placement, test it after changing the one-click setting. The available product-page action may differ when one-click is enabled.

What to expect

With one-click enabled, customers can add installation for the eligible cart items through one action after providing the requested location information. With one-click disabled, the cart can present eligible items for individual selection. Items without an available installation offer may remain unselectable.

The placement may not display when the cart is empty, when none of the exact variants has an available offer, or when installation is unavailable for the customer ZIP. Shopify remains responsible for retail product quantities, inventory, and fulfillment.

The cart page and cart drawer are separate theme experiences. A working cart-page block does not mean the placement will also appear in a custom drawer. Test both surfaces on the published theme after every placement or one-click setting change.
